I am Giulio Maria Maggi, an aesthetic plastic surgeon. I operate in Turin, Italy, at Aesthetic Clinic, where I am Medical Director, and I also see patients in Asti and Alessandria. I see patients in Italian and in English.
My approach: first, understanding
"First, understanding" (in Italian, prima comprendere). No promises about results: indications, risks and limits explained frankly, so that every patient can make a truly informed choice.
Before I suggest an operation, I want to understand what brings you to me, what you expect and whether surgery is really the right answer. Sometimes it is, sometimes there is a simpler way, and sometimes the best choice is not to operate at all. My work starts with this honest assessment, made without haste and without judgement.
This leads to three commitments: to explain in plain words what can and cannot be achieved; to aim for a natural, well-proportioned result that respects who you are; and to follow you after surgery for as long as it takes.

My years with Prof. Renato Marten Perolino
For twelve years I worked alongside Prof. Renato Marten Perolino, urologist and plastic surgeon, at Villa Maria Pia Hospital and, in private practice, at Clinica Fornaca and Clinica Cellini in Turin. I was his last assistant surgeon (in Italian, ultimo aiuto).
He taught me intimate surgery and male-to-female gender-affirming surgery, passing on not only the technique but also the rigour and sensitivity that such delicate journeys require. Over time he entrusted me, as lead surgeon, with the breast surgery of his patients in transition: a responsibility I was given only after demonstrating the necessary competence.
In some of these operations I used the endoscopic axillary (armpit) approach, which I had learnt from Prof. Paolo Santanchè, with whom I worked for five years.
My work today
Since 2009 I have operated in Turin at Casa di Cura Sedes Sapientiae, Clinica Fornaca and Clinica Sanitalia. In 2021 Aesthetic Clinic opened, and I am its director: here I perform the procedures that do not require an overnight stay, while patients I prefer to spend the night in a hospital setting are admitted to these private hospitals. I teach the use of fillers and botulinum toxin in theoretical and practical courses for doctors in Northern Italy, and I write medico-legal reports in plastic and aesthetic surgery.
International training
For the Deep Plane facelift I trained in New York with Prof. Andrew A. Jacono, who shared on his Instagram profile the photo of the course held at his surgical centre on Park Avenue.
My longest periods of training abroad were in Mexico. In Guadalajara I trained with Prof. José Guerrero Santos and, thanks to him, a friend of Prof. F. Ortiz Monasterio, I continued in Mexico City.
For years, every summer, instead of a holiday I spent a training period with respected plastic surgeons abroad:

- Navarra and Barcelona, with Prof. Jaime Planas
- Los Angeles, with Prof. Kawamoto
I also spent a training period at New York University, with Prof. J. McCarthy.
